Karen Fox, our resident gemologist, treated us with an excellent educational talk on the basic tools used for gemstone identification, and the many ways gemstones are doctored to enhance their appearance and potential value.

OCTOBER 10, 2025
Keith Delaney
, Earth Sciences Department, University of Waterloo took us on a whirlwind tour on Mineralogy 101.  Keith gave an overview of mineral characteristics, crystal structure and habit, the different groups and categories, and so on.

Our November meeting featured fossils, as Chuck Zietsma presented  “An overview and samplings of the plethora of fossils I have collected on my rock hounding adventures throughout North America”.
